I AM NO LONGER OFFERING THIS COURSE. Thank you to everyone who attended previous sessions – it was a great success and it seems everyone enjoyed the courses. However, with the release of ActionScript 3.0 with the latest versions of Flash (and Flex, Air, whatever else they come up), it would be irresponsible of me to offer an AS2-based course anymore (although I see that on some sites, that hasn’t stopped others!). I urge anyone who is new to Flash to avoid AS2 and go right to learning AS3. Start with the Moock book.
I’ve received a lot of inquiries in the past few months about offering this course again but I have not developed an ActionScript 3.0 version of this course at this time. That said, if you are interested let me know and I can add you to my list and send an update when the time comes.
I’m pleased to announce a new course I’m offering, online, for the many folks out there who wish to learn ActionScript. I’m excited to offer this course because I love scripting for Flash and I can tell you first-hand that without at least a basic knowledge of ActionScript your employability for a position that requires Flash knowledge is limited. Particularly for the Instructional Designers I’m meeting who have some basic Flash skills but zero programming experience. Just a couple of years ago all you needed to know was how to do a pseudo-storyboard in PowerPoint and you could legitimately call yourself an Elearning Designer at interviews. That time is long passed : ) Email me for more info.
INSTRUCTOR: Mark Siegrist, eLearningLive.com
LENGTH: 5 weeks online (approximately 7.5 hours total live instruction)
The course consists of a live 1.5 hour instruction session per week along with assigned labs and readings
to be completed prior to the following session. Student should expect to devote approximately 4 hours
per week to completing the course assignments and attending the online sessions.
This course is aimed at graphic designers, web designers, and elearning/instructional designers who
have very little or no experience with ActionScript. You will also benefit from the course if you are a
beginnerâ€level ActionScripter who wants to learn AS2 and objectâ€oriented programming “the right way”,
perhaps brush up on the basics or make the jump from ActionScript 1 to ActionScript 2 (and eventually
3). This is a handsâ€on course. You won’t be spending hours on theory but jumping right in with visual
examples and getting your hands dirty with realâ€world ActionScript code that you can apply to your
projects immediately.
To register or receive more information contact Mark Siegrist at mark@elearninglive.com, fill out the contact form below, or call 484.744.4020. Note: this course can be delivered live onâ€site at additional cost per student.
